Howdy Everyone ! We had a very special visitor to our beach on December 22nd 2009 who was a male Australian Sea Lion ! He stayed with us for 2 nights and had a huge sleep over for 48 hours as he only moved to keep on the sand while the tides were coming in and out ! He was quite happy for people to take photo's as long as you did not get too close. We phoned the wildlife rescue organisation as we were concerned with the marks on his back and head. They asked us to take photo's and email them, which we did and they were happy that he was fine. Apparently they will often come up on beaches and sleep for up to 6 days consecutively if they have been swimming a long distance. As ours left after 2 nights he just needed a rest and then he was off again in the sea !

We recently stayed at Edithburgh Caravan Park in a spa cabin which was awesome; we were met by the friendly managers Andrew and Belinda and shown where our accommodation was located.

The increasing popularity of Point Turton as a destination rather than an overnight stop has seen the District Council of Yorke Peninsula develop a 10-year plan for the town's caravan park in consultation with long-term mangers Malcolm and Jenny Clifton. "It's all about location, location, location which sees our occupancy high most of the year, with numbers not dropping as much in winter as they used to. Since we came to the park eight years ago we've seen an increase in the number of visitors using Turton as a base and staying much longer," Malcolm says.
